38 weeks

Well, here we are, 38 weeks... September 1st.  Can't believe it!  With the induction set (details at tomorrow's doctor appointment), we will be kicking Colby out September 10th (9 days from now!).  This is insane.

While I'm sooooo ready to meet him, and have tried every last "old wives tale" to convince him to come (other than casor oil.... still can't bring myself to try that one)... it really blows my mind that we are THAT close!

Here's what babycenter has to say about 38 weeks.  Keep in mind they estimated Colby to be around 7lb, 4 ounces at the ultrasound last Monday.... so by now he's probably over 8 (give or take 'cause it's an estimate) since they gain about half a pound a week here at the end.

Your baby has really plumped up. He weighs about 6.8 pounds and he's over 19 1/2 inches long (like a leek). He has a firm grasp, which you'll soon be able to test when you hold his hand for the first time! His organs have matured and are ready for life outside the womb.

Wondering what color your baby's eyes will be? You may not be able to tell right away. If he's born with brown eyes, they'll likely stay brown. If he's born with steel gray or dark blue eyes, they may stay gray or blue or turn green, hazel, or brown by the time he's 9 months old. That's because a child's irises (the colored part of the eye) may gain more pigment in the months after he's born, but they usually won't get "lighter" or more blue. (Green, hazel, and brown eyes have more pigment than gray or blue eyes.)

Yes - we have been wondering what color eyes Colby will have.... what he will look like.... if he'll have hair.  Eek!  Jimmy and I seriously laid in bed last night for at least 10 minutes just talking about Colby and how excited we are and all the things we wonder about.

I'm still hoping he decides to make his entrance before next Friday.  I'd really prefer to go into labor naturally.  My mom has been saying this Friday.... we'll see.  I'm hoping my doc appointment tomorrow shows more progress (c'mon 2-3cm!).
