34 weeks!

Well.... 34 weeks today!  Eek!  37 days 'til Colby's likely eviction date (9/10/10).

Here's what BabyCenter says about his size and development (though we all know to throw the size stuff out - he's a chunker already!)

Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds (like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. Her fat layers — which will help regulate her body temperature once she's born — are filling her out, making her rounder. Her skin is also smoother than ever. Her central nervous system is maturing and her lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you've been nervous about preterm labor, you'll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies.

I have a friend who had her baby recently at 34.5 weeks.  She had a little bit of issues with breathing at first, and was in the NICU, but she has since gone home - a week and a half after being born.  Pretty amazing.  When she had her baby it really freaked Jimmy and me out because she was due around 2 weeks before me..... we KNEW we weren't ready for Colby to come in 2 weeks!

Here's to hoping he stays put for at least 3 more weeks (but once we hit 37 weeks, he has a green light!) :-)

I'll leave you with a sneak peek of a couple pictures from our maternity photo shoot with my brother this past weekend.  I'm still working on sifting through them all / editing them..... but here are a few!  Thanks Taylor!

  3. Kim - what type of picture editing program do you use? I saw the pictures on babyzone and love all the different techniques that youe used. I have been trying to find one, but not sure what to go with.
