the latest....

Wow!  Time is flying by - and we haven't even been THAT busy yet!

I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon, my first appointment since I was diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes (GD), and the first time I will have seen my doctor for 12 weeeks for a real appointment (I saw him briefly when I fell).... crazy!  A lot has changed in 12 weeks!  I'll update later about the appointment.

Let's see..... the latest.  Well, "Eggo" now has a permanent name - and we're actually sharing it with the world.  Our son will be named Colby Richard Wells.  Colby was a name Jimmy found in a book that was on our list, and I warmed up to it, Jimmy loved it, and now it works great.  I liked the nickname Cole but wasn't too hot on the name Colton, so if I really want to call him Cole, I still can!  Richard is for my grandfather who passed away exactly one week before we found out we were pregnant.  Even with my higher risk for miscarriage due to PCOS, etc., I almost knew from the start that we would get to meet this baby in September and hold him / her in our arms.  I just knew that Grandpa would watch over the baby, and me.  It's hard every time I say / think about Colby's full name, because it's hard to know that Grandpa won't be able to hold his first great-grandbaby, or any great-grandbabies..... but I know he would've been proud, honored, and would've spoiled the little one rotten! :-)

He also must be getting bigger, 'cause I'm feeling him ALL the time now! :-)  Some days more than others, but on any day I feel him at least 3 times in the day, and usually for a little while.  I tend to consistently catch him between 2:30pm and 4pm EVERY day.... but many other times too.  And last night he was kicking or rolling away in there as I was trying to go to sleep, and each time I woke up in the night.  I'm not complaining though..... I love every kick / roll / punch / knead.... even to my bladder! :-)

Today I even saw my belly move!!!  He's been doing karate in there all day, from the moment I woke up, so I wondered if I'd be able to see any of it.  I laid down on the couch and stared at my pale white bare belly for less than a minute, and sure enough - ka-bam, ka-bam - two kicks or punches or???? - one to the left, one to the right - and it was like my belly moved to the left and then to the right.

Jimmy's been able to feel a bunch of kicks lately.... and a couple nights ago Colby must have been curled up or something, 'cause we could definitely feel him as we were poking away at my belly - and see my belly in kinda a strange shape.  So cool!  I love the little alien in my belly!

My Mom, Dad, Brother, and their exchange daughter came to visit this past weekend.  It was fun to have them up here, and we toured around Seattle on Saturday (exhausting!) - which turned out to be a pretty nice day!  I'll try to share some pictures later....

We've also been working a ton on our garden.  I think we've got everything in that we're going to put in - I got some tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and zucchini yesterday to add to it.  I'll definitely take pictures soon - it looks awesome!  I can't wait for this summer when we can enjoy it all!

Okay..... I think that's enough for now!  I'll leave you with a picture - okay two.  One was Saturday - Jimmy and I on the ferry - the other is Sunday, me at 23 weeks, 4 days!

On the ferry - LOVE Seattle!

23 weeks, 4 days (Sunday, 5/23/10)
